This is where tradition meets innovation because SchapfenMühle is not only a family-run and medium-sized company with a long tradition, but also a modern flour and hulling mill. The „mill among the fishermen at the Fischertor“ was first mentioned in a document in 1452 and stood in the Fischerviertel until it burned down in a fire in 1983. Today, Ulm‘s oldest manufacturing company is located in Ulm-Jungingen and its 116 m high silo tower is a local landmark.
Using the latest techniques, more than 100,000 tons of grain such as wheat, spelt, rye, barley, oats and emmer, a wild form of wheat, are processed annually. In addition to classic grain products, such as quality flours, flakes, crushed grain products and semolina, natural food products and bread mixes are manufactured and sold. A wide range of organic products are also available. Top quality is guaranteed thanks to uninterrupted supply chains and predominantly regional suppliers, as well as optimum storage and processing and constant controls. Customers include artisan bakers, industrial companies and food retailers. Approx. 20 % of products are exported worldwide. They can also be purchased directly at the mill shop in Dornstadt.
